Role: A Sustainability Associate is a position that involves managing teams and projects related to sustainability reporting and may require implementation. The role of a Senior Sustainability Researcher is crucial in advancing sustainability practices, and it requires a combination of scientific, analytical, management, and communication skills to be successful.

Job Responsibilities

• • Strategy and Planning: A Sustainability Associate is responsible for developing and implementing the reporting/project strategies and plans that address sustainability project issues. A deep understanding of sustainability frameworks is a must, and the ability to identify and prioritize issues and opportunities that support the successful completion of the project is a key to success.
  • Sustainability Research: A Sustainability Associate is responsible for conducting research on various sustainability issues and trends, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, renewable energy, circular economy, and social inequality. They must have strong research skills and be able to analyze complex data and systems.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Collaboration: A Sustainability Associate is responsible for knowledge transfer to the teams he works with, and the various stakeholders which are the clients. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate these collaborations and build partnerships that support sustainable development.
  • Project Design and Implementation: A Sustainability Associate plays a critical role in designing and implementing sustainability projects/Reports that address complex challenges. This requires creativity, innovation, and the ability to think outside the box. Senior Researchers need to be able to identify the most effective strategies and solutions to address client’s needs, considering factors such as resource availability, cost-effectiveness, social acceptability, and regulatory compliance.

• Stakeholder Engagement: A Sustainability Researcher is responsible for engaging with stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers to promote sustainability practices and build support for sustainability initiatives.

• • Policy Drafting and Proposal Development: A Sustainability Associate is responsible for drafting sustainability policies and developing technical proposals tailored to client needs. This includes translating sustainability goals into actionable policy frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and client-specific objectives. Create compelling and technically proposals that communicate the value of sustainability initiatives to clients effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: A Sustainability Associate is responsible for helping clients comply with relevant sustainability regulations and standards, including environmental regulations, labor laws, and human rights standards.

• Continuous Improvement: A Sustainability Researcher is responsible for continuously monitoring and evaluating sustainability performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring that clients are achieving their sustainability goals.

 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, or Social Studies (Master’s Degree in a sustainability-relevant field is an advantage).
• 2-4 years of experience in same field or relevant field.
• Familiarity with ESG Reporting Frameworks.
• Demonstrated strength in data analysis and report writing.
• Ability to work with large data sets and produce effective reports.
• Passion for delivering value for clients.
• Passion for following sustainability trends globally.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• A team player, and excellent management under pressure.
• Excellent in Arabic and English content writing.
