Job Description:  
A Senior Sustainability Officer is a leadership position that involves managing teams and projects related to sustainability reporting. This role is critical in advancing sustainability practices and requires a combination of scientific, analytical, leadership, and communication skills to ensure success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
    • The Senior Sustainability Officer plays a critical role in structuring and leading sustainability projects and reports that address complex challenges. This requires creativity, innovation, and the ability to think outside the box. They must identify effective strategies and solutions to meet client needs, considering factors such as resource availability and regulatory compliance.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring project goals and deadlines are met.
  • Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement reporting and project strategies that address sustainability challenges.
    • A deep understanding of sustainability frameworks is essential, along with the ability to identify and prioritize issues and opportunities to ensure project success.
  • Research:
    • Conduct research on various sustainability issues and trends, such as climate change, the circular economy, and social inequality.
    • Possess strong research skills to analyze complex data and systems effectively.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Collaboration:
    • Share knowledge with team members and various stakeholders to foster understanding and alignment on sustainability goals.
  • Project Evaluation:
    • Monitor and evaluate the progress and outcomes of sustainability projects and reports.
    • Analyze data, identify areas for improvement, address challenges encountered during the project, and report findings to the ESG Manager.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with stakeholders to promote sustainability practices and build support for initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate sustainability performance.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure clients achieve their sustainability goals.
  • Resource Management:
    • Manage staff resources effectively and efficiently to achieve project goals.

Specific Responsibilities for the Sustainable Finance Department:

  • Lead sustainability reporting and projects with a focus on aligning financial performance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop sustainability strategies that integrate financial insights, ensuring long-term value creation.
  • Analyze and interpret sustainability data to provide actionable insights for sustainable investment decisions.
  • Stay updated on global trends and regulations in sustainable finance, including ESG frameworks, green bonds, and impact investing.
  • Build relationships with financial stakeholders, including investors, banks, and regulatory bodies, to promote sustainable financial practices.
  • Support the development of innovative financial solutions and tools that address sustainability challenges while meeting client objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business Administration (Master’s degree in a sustainability-related field is an advantage).
  • 4–6 years of experience in sustainability or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to handle large datasets and produce impactful reports.
  • Passion for delivering client value and aligning financial returns with societal impact.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A team player who can excel under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
