Senior Consultant, Researcher & Lecturer, in the field of Economics and Sustainable Development; with more than 20 years of experience in consulting, lecturing, research, public and private policy advising on Sustainable Development and Climate finance; on the local, regional, and international level.

His core motivation was embedding Sustainable Development philosophy and culture in the Egyptian context, in particular Strategy and Policy planning, project implementation, evaluation, and development.

Among others, his consultations experience covers public policy and corporate consultations, the later includes; financial sector, health, telecom, ICT, F&B, Oil and Gas, construction, real estate, petrochemicals, Fertilizers, among others.

His consultation experience spans from public consultations including preparation of Egypt’s INDCs report submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat in Oct 2015,  Egypt Sustainable Development Strategy (2030) energy pillar, Egypt’s Voluntary National Review on SDGs submitted to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July 2016, developing Egypt’s national strategic review on SDG1 and SDG2 for the World Food Program,developing Egypt Biennial Updated report on SDG13 to the UNFCCC, member of the audit committee of Egypt’s VNR 2018, member of the team of experts working on revisiting Egypt’s vision 2030, to private consultations including; Developing sustainable institutional frameworks for the banking, telecom, FMCG, ICT, and oil and gas sector, capacity building and education for SD strategy implementations.

He received his MSc and Ph.D. from the faculty of economics and political science, Cairo university in cooperation with the Free University of Berlin, Germany, Dr. Shalaby is a certified quality education manager, and has been a visiting lecturer among many universities; currently at the Maastricht School of Management (MBA) Program.

In addition, Shalaby has peered papers and working papers in the field of Sustainable Development strategies and policies. His familiarity with data ecosystems on the environmental, social and economic systems stems from his experience in preparation of these reports which covers the three dimensions of SD.
