ESG Director- International & Government Relations Department
Reem Mehanna is the ESG Director with over 24 years of experience in sustainable development, public policy, and multi-stakeholder programme leadership. She holds a BA in Political Science from Cairo University, an MPA from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, and dual masterโs degrees in Sustainable International Development and Coexistence & Conflict from Brandeis University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Global Public Policy at Cairo University, specializing in European climate assistance and its contribution to Egyptโs climate goals.
In her current role at DCarbon, Reem leads the companyโs engagement with governmental bodies, international organizations, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders. She oversees ESG advisory, public-policy coordination, and strategic relationship management, ensuring that DCarbonโs initiatives align with Egyptโs national sustainability priorities, climate commitments, and emerging regulatory frameworks. Her work strengthens cross-sector collaboration and advances evidence-based approaches to climate resilience and responsible investment.
Prior to joining DCarbon, Reem served as Deputy General Manager for Strategic Sustainability at the National Bank of Egypt, where she integrated ESG and climate considerations into corporate strategy, expanded sustainability reporting, and supported green finance initiatives with DFIs.
She has also held senior roles with Enroot Development, UN Women, UNDP, USAID, WFP, and VinaCapital Foundation, leading large-scale programmes in Egypt and Asia focused on gender equality, inclusive economic development, and community resilience.
Recognized for her ability to bridge government priorities with donor and private-sector agendas, Reem brings deep experience in policy dialogue, ESG integration, and institutional capacity building, positioning her as a key contributor to national and regional sustainability efforts.
