Egypt announces initiative to enhance investments in different climate action sectors in Africa.
صر تعلن عن مبادرة لتعزيز الاستثمار في مختلف قطاعات العمل المناخي في إفريقيا
The Egyptian initiative includes holding five major regional roundtables. The first of them will take place on August 2-4 in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, which is the home of the UN regional economic committee for Africa. The forum aims to catalyze climate finance and investment flows towards building climate resilience in Africa as well as fulfilling AU 2063 Agenda and 2030 SDGs.
تشمل المبادرة المصرية عقد خمس موائد مستديرة إقليمية. سيقام أولهما يومي 2 و4 أغسطس في العاصمة الإثيوبية أديس أبابا، مقر اللجنة الاقتصادية الإقليمية للأمم المتحدة لأفريقيا. يهدف المنتدى إلى تحفيز التمويل المناخي وتدفقات الاستثمار نحو بناء القدرة على الصمود في وجه تغير المناخ في إفريقيا بالإضافة إلى تحقيق خطة الاتحاد الأفريقي 2063 وأهداف التنمية المستدامة لعام 2030

Major cleanup campaign planned along the Nile River in Egypt
حملة تنظيف كبيرة لنهر النيل في مصر
The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources would carry out a major clean-up campaign of waste on September 17, coinciding with the celebration of the “World Cleanliness Day”, as part of the ongoing preparations for holding the Fifth Cairo Water Week and preparing for water activities during the upcoming COP27 climate conference.
تنفذ وزارة الري والموارد المائية حملة تنظيف كبرى للمخلفات في 17 سبتمبر، تزامنا مع الاحتفال “باليوم العالمي للنظافة”، في إطار الاستعدادات الجارية لعقد أسبوع المياه الخامس بالقاهرة والاستعداد لها. الأنشطة المائية خلال مؤتمر المناخ COP27 القادم.

African finance and trade ministers were among the stakeholders taking part in the forum.
Charting a new and sustainable economic model were at the center of discussions as the first African Regional Roundtable on Climate Initiatives kicked off in Adis Ababa Ethiopia on Tuesday.
وزراء المالية والتجارة الأفارقة من بين أصحاب المصلحة المشاركين في المنتدى. كان رسم نموذج اقتصادي جديد ومستدام في قلب المناقشات حيث انطلقت أول مائدة مستديرة إقليمية أفريقية حول مبادرات المناخ في أديس أبابا إثيوبيا يوم الثلاثاء.

African climate negotiators pushed back a proposal by the African Union to promote gas as a bridge fuel

Egypt’s lead climate negotiator Mohamed Nasr, said that the Cop27 presidency’s work on the energy transition in Africa focuses on energy access. Negotiators argued that a pro-gas stance was too controversial and would distract from priorities like adaptation and climate finance.

Egypt pitches for investments with a list of African climate projects, ahead of climate summit.
مصر تطرح استثمارات بقائمة من مشروعات المناخ الأفريقية قبل قمة المناخ.
Egypt is pitching for $10bn – the highest cost of any project on the initial list – to replace 17 inefficient fossil fuel power plants, which have a combined capacity of 7.5GW, with 11.3GW of wind and solar power. The project, which is to be delivered by the private sector, would help Egypt meet its 2030 emissions reduction goal.
تسعى مصر للحصول على 10 مليارات دولار لاستبدال 17 محطة طاقة تعمل بالوقود الأحفوري، والتي تبلغ طاقتها الإجمالية 7.5 جيجاواط، مع 11.3 جيجاواط من طاقة الرياح والطاقة الشمسية. سيساعد المشروع، الذي سيتم تسليمه من قبل القطاع الخاص مصر على تحقيق هدف خفض الانبعاثات لعام 2030.
